What this site is about:

This is a site for fans of old school fantasy role playing games and the more recent “retro-clone” style games designed to emulate the original games created back in the last 70s.  The main goal of the site is to  aid dungeon masters with their campaigns.  In particular, I want to create a collection of old-school random tables and generators.

The plan is to create unique tables by combining resources from classic games, out-of-print publications, rare accessories, the fan community, some more modern spiritual successors to the original fantasy rpgs, and heck, even some original stuff, too. :)

I intend for these to cover as many aspects of game design, preparation and play as possible, but the goal is to maintain the gritty “sword and sorcery” with a hint of “weird science” that was part of the unique appeal of those early games.

Use these randomizers to:

  • add flavor to your existing campaign world,
  • assist in the creation of new adventures for your players,
  • aid in solo or impromptu game play,
  • or even just for plain old amusement.

I hope you get as much creative inspiration out of these as I do, and I hope you enjoy using them as much as I enjoy sharing them with you.

About the Webmaster:

I’m just a guy who didn’t get to game enough as a kid to get it out of my system.  Now, even though I don’t play or run the game itself, I still very much enjoy thinking about and reading rules, and reading the interpretations and elaborations of others.  I like spending some of my free time using the tools on this site to create pretend worlds, and I like putting them here for other people to use and comment on.

About the Name:

“Megadungeon.com” was taken.  :)  I thought of this name shortly afterwards, and thought it had an old-school ring to it, and turns out I get a cool handle to use on the gaming forums to boot.

Questions, comments, concerns, suggestions?

Fill out the form below to get in touch with me about any old thing you like.  I like meeting and chatting with other hobbyists and enthusiasts, so please at least say “hello” while you’re here! Or even better…

If you actually use a generator in your gaming or creative efforts, why not contribute a new option via the comment field on that generator page?  I’d love the input!  If you have a suggestion for a generator I don’t currently have, I’m interested in hearing from you, too.

Thanks for visiting, and enjoy the site!
